April 20th: A new paper from our collaborator Victoria Belancio and her lab (Tulane Cancer Center) entitled "A novel role of TRIM28 B box domain in L1 retrostransposition and ORF2p-mediated cDNA synthesis" has been published in Nucleic Acids Research.
April 4th: We want to congratulate both Cem Ozdemir and Jullian Perren for passing their PhD qualifying exams! Way to go! Cem and Jullian are now officially PhD candidates and can focus on their research projects. This is definitely worth celebrating with champagne, cake and Cem's famous homemade baklava.

December 17th: An undergraduate research technician in the lab, Shihchun Wang, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with high honors from UT Austin. Shihchun will now continue her research in the lab full time as a research assistant working on acetylation and genome integrity in human cancers. Congratulations!!! We look forward to having you in the lab full time and following your exciting project.

This work identifies a bacteria-to-human network of proteins that influence endogenous sources of DNA damage and mutations, with implications of their roles in cancer. Congratulations to Liya who is co-first author on the paper and to everyone else who was involved. Great work!

October 31st: The eLife paper is in the news with an article in Bio News Texas highlighting the work (link) & in another article in Baylor College of Medicine News (link).
October 29th: An Insight article that highlights the eLIfe paper has also now been published in eLife. Proteins pinpoint double strand breaks by Michael M Cox (2013) eLife.
October 29th: A collaborative project with Dr. Reuben Harris (University of Minnesota) and Dr. Susan Rosenberg (Baylor College of Medicine) has now been published in eLife. Congratulations to former member Ben Cox and Liya Chiu who are co-authors on the paper! (link).
July: A cover image associated with Wei-Ta's MCB paper has been chosen as the journal cover for Molecular and Cellular Biology in September.
July: A review article from Fade and Kyle entitled "Mammalian DNA repair: HATs and HDACs make their mark through histone acetylation" has been accepted for publication in Mutation Research - Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis.
